Or on the beach? Or on the island with the tree? Comment by Allakhazam Buzzbox is right on the waters edge where the water meets the sand. And I tried killing Threshers all over as a test for me and the only ones that dropped the eye were the ones closest to the Buzzbox. As in, killing the ones closest to the dock further south did not drop any eyes for me. The quest log says "Collect 3 Thresher Eyes from Darkshore Threshers in the deep sea NEAR Buzzbox " - so if you are killing threshers and not getting eyes make sure you have not swam out of the area.
Editted months later : Made another Alliance toon and, while helping someone do his Warrior Quest, I discovered that by killing the Threshers off the Auburdine dock also gave Thresher Eyes. Not a great drop rate, but I did get some. The Threshers were in the way of the crates he had to open.

Comment by Allakhazam Box is simple to find, Threshers are not. Took me forever, killed the ones next to the box and nothing. Go to 36,33 and there are tons there. Dropped everytime I killed one. It is north of Auberdine on the beach where the water meets the sand, this is fact. However it is not as you say "past" the shipwrecks. It is on the small region of beach directly east of the shipwrecks. Comment by Allakhazam So I went looking for buzzbox today, and along the way I saw some silverleaf.
Going off the beach to harvest it, I got my and my pet's tails whipped. Figuring I may as well stay a wisp to look around, I went in search of the buzzbox, starting from where my corpse was heading north. Suffice to say, if you find the ruins, you've gone too far. I explored pretty much the entire coastline, then when I went back to look for my corpse, I found the buzzbox instead.

The Buzzbox hums to life soon after you place the Thresher Eyes inside. There is a moment of static before you hear a familiar tiny voice call out. The coordinates for Buzzbox are [42, 28]. Thresher Eyes drop from Threshers off the coast of Darkshore — you can find them easily by swimming around outside of Auberdine. They look like Plesiosaurs.
